IT Architecture Fundamentals
Designing technology environments deliberately: requirements, constraints, patterns, trade offs and documented decisions.
IntermediateUpdated 2026-09-01
Overview
Architecture starts from requirements and constraints, availability, security, compliance, cost, skills, timeline, then selects patterns that satisfy them and records why alternatives were rejected.
The output is not a diagram alone. It is a set of decisions with rationale, a dependency map, and a description of failure modes and how the design handles them.
