Overview

Enterprise applications are defined by their integrations and their data ownership. Each has an authoritative dataset, a set of interfaces, an upgrade cycle, and a business owner whose priorities drive availability requirements.

IT's contribution is lifecycle rigour: documented architecture, environment separation, tested upgrades, integration inventory, access model and recovery plan.

Security considerations

  • Integrate with SSO and remove local application accounts, especially administrative ones.
  • Map integrations and their credentials; service to service accounts are the least governed part of most application estates.
